Social media often feels like a battleground of opinions. Judgment flies left and right, and you never quite know when you’ll step into an argument or debate. But every once in a while, something refreshingly lighthearted comes along to unite people in unexpected ways. That’s exactly what the “We Listen, We Don’t Judge” trend on X (formerly Twitter) did.
What started as a simple statement quickly became a hilarious confessional thread where people shared their quirks, odd habits, and funny thoughts. And let’s be honest, some of these confessions are pure gold—they’ll have you laughing, cringing, and nodding all at once. I also do some quirky things (don’t ask!), so when I stumbled upon this trend, I found myself laughing and feeling oddly seen.

Here are some of the confessions from the We Listen, We Don’t Judge trend that I could relate to and made me laugh:
- I chew the nylon of sachet water after drinking it. I don’t know why—it just feels good.
- I get confused between ‘vertical’ and ‘horizontal’ every time. I always have to Google it.
- I barked back at my dog once during an argument. They barked first, so I had to defend myself.
- When I’m alone, I practice fake arguments in my head and win them every time.
- I eat all the toppings off my pizza first, then eat the crust like a snack.
- Sometimes I reply to WhatsApp messages in my head and forget to actually send them.
- I name every object I own. My water bottle is called Lucy, and my laptop is Fred.
- I can’t eat the last bite of my food—it just feels wrong. So I always leave it.
- I’m convinced my phone can hear my thoughts. It always shows me ads for things I never searched for.
- I fold my socks and put them in pairs, but I can’t wear matching ones. They HAVE to mismatch.
- When I’m sad, I Google ‘puppy videos’ and instantly feel better. It’s my therapy.
- I write my name over and over when I’m bored, like I’m preparing to sign autographs someday.
- I say ‘ow’ even when something doesn’t hurt. I think it’s my default reaction.
- I still Google ‘how to boil eggs’ every time I cook them. I don’t trust my memory.
- I rewatch shows I’ve already seen because I can’t handle the suspense of something new.
These are just a few examples, but let’s be real—who hasn’t done some of these?

People loved it because these confessions were so relatable. Responses like “Me too” or “I thought I was the only one” were everywhere. For a moment, everyone just laughed at themselves and connected over the weird little things we all do. Remember, We Listen, We Don’t Judge, right?
But like every trend on the internet, the We Listen, We Don’t Judge trend didn’t stay fun for long. Eventually, people started missing the point. They started giving advice, dropping motivational quotes, or just sharing random stuff that didn’t fit. I read a very cute love story on the trend and I feel like the love story doesn’t align with the essence of the trend but who am I to judge?

Some people even used the We Listen, We Don’t Judge trend to promote their businesses or post unrelated hot takes. It felt like they weren’t listening and they were just waiting for their turn to talk.
Even with all that noise, the We Listen, We Don’t Judge trend still left its mark. It reminded me that sometimes it’s okay to just be weird and not take ourselves so seriously. And honestly, we all need more of that. Sometimes, we need to let go of the pressure to perform and just laugh at ourselves. We Listen, We Don’t Judge.
