There is no gainsaying that the Super Eagles are in a tailspin, and only a bold move can pull them out of this free fall. Talking about the NFF – perhaps, the NFF’s coaching carousel has to stop. Stability and continuity is needed not constant chaos. Could it be that the Super Eagles are destined to remain in the shadows of African football, or can a new coach lead them to the promised land?
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has embarked on a quest for a modern-day Moses, a coach who can miraculously lead the Super Eagles out of the wilderness of mediocrity and into the promised land of football greatness. The NFF’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser is a desperate attempt to salvage a sinking ship.
Recent failures have highlighted the team’s dire need for a savior. Finidi George, the current coach, has struggled to win a single game, with the team’s last victory dating back to several months ago. The Super Eagles’ lackluster performance against the Benin Republic, resulting in a disappointing loss, was a stark reminder of their current state. The team’s 1-1 draw against Bafana Bafana, a match they were expected to win convincingly, further underscored their struggles.
The team’s inability to convert scoring chances, their porous defense, and their lack of cohesion have been glaring issues. The players seem to lack motivation, and the coaching staff appears unable to inspire them. The NFF’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser has raised eyebrows, with many questioning the move’s wisdom.
Despite these setbacks, the NFF remains optimistic about the team’s chances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. However, the reality is that the Super Eagles are facing an uphill battle to qualify for the tournament. With their current form and lack of cohesion, it’s difficult to see them making a significant impact on the world stage.
The search for a ‘Moses’ is on, but it’s not just about finding a coach who can perform miracles. The NFF must also address the systemic issues that have hindered the team’s progress for years. They must build a solid foundation, invest in player development programs, and create a culture of excellence within the team.
The NFF must also take responsibility for their part in the team’s failures. Their inability to provide adequate support, resources, and infrastructure has hindered the team’s progress. They must work tirelessly to create an environment conducive to success.
Only then can the Super Eagles truly soar to greatness. The NFF must not put all their hopes in one man, no matter how great a coach he may be. They must build a system that will sustain the team’s success long after the ‘Moses’ of their dreams has gone.
As the search continues, Nigerian football fans can only hope that the NFF will find the right man for the job. A coach who can lead the team to victories, but also build a legacy that will last for generations to come. The promised land of football greatness is within reach, but it will take more than just a ‘Moses’ to get there; perhaps inclusion of all the biblical juggernauts.

I think sacking Genet Rohr was a big mistake, he should have been allowed to continue
Inconsistencies everywhere. Hiring and sacking…
Inconsistency is a mark of incompetence.
Your opinion is respected. However, Super Eagle more than a coach to soar. The need to have respect for the national jersey and continuously be conscious that it’s a national thing and not individual. Discipline!
Thank you for your time hear.
Thank you!
There is no motivation and zeal to win among the players. A coach guides you to achieve set goals and to win but you decide if you want to win or be defeated.
We earnestly hope to get it right soon!
